Meet Ms. Dory

Ms. Dory is a ~1.5 year old female Pot Belly Pig mix, that was found abandoned in the middle of Fort Lauderdale. As the story was told, a family was raising pigs and chickens FOR MEAT inside the house that they were renting-- and when they moved, they just left her behind in the front yard to fend for herself; prey for wild dogs and the potential to be hit by a car (only three blocked away from a major highway)! A concerned neighbor called us 4 days later asking for us to come pick up 'the pig that keeps trying to sneak into their house when they are unloading groceries'. So we rushed over! The neighbors were able to confine this abandoned pig into their small fenced back yard with a bag of Dorito chips.. and we named her "Ms. Dory" (short for Doritos, but also when pronounced sounds like "MYSTERY"-- because it was a total mystery how she survived this long)!

Upon being examined by our veterinary team, we found that not only was Ms. Dory PREGNANT-- but due to all of the extra weight of the pregnancy + the obesity from her extremely unhealthy diet-- she also had a fractured spine!!!!!

In order to save Ms. Dory's life, we sadly had to abort her pregnancy to relieve the pressure off of her spine and give it a chance to heal on its own. Ms. Dory lived inside our house with us while she recovered, and was on strict stall rest for a long while before we were able to do physical therapy to help her earn back her strength!

We are so happy to say that Ms. Dory is now thriving! She is now spayed, up to date on all vaccines, dewormed, socialized and available for adoption!

Sponsor Ms. Dory to help underwrite the cost of her daily feed, hay, supplements and veterinary care!
